Dare to Dream Community Retreat 2008

The Dare to Dream Retreat was held in Boulder on November 16, 2008 with close to seventy Rabbis, Jewish educators and lay leaders representing over thirty synagogues, Jewish educational organizations and programs in the Boulder area. Together, they shared a dream about the future of Jewish learning that would promote community-wide, pluralistic programs for Jewish learners of every age. This was the first time the community had a gathering with such a broad group of representatives addressing the needs of the community.

Retreat participants were energized by so many people representing a broad spectrum of Judaism. 18 Pomegranates Founder and President, Francine Lavin Weaver, opened with a moving welcome address. Ms. Weaver was followed by Rabbi Nadya Gross who shared an inspiring story about the Baal ShemTov entitled Many Hats, One Hat Rack. Chaz Consulting and four other Boulder-based professionals facilitated the retreat. Please Click Here for a complete list of the organizations that attended the 2008 retreat. 18 Pomegranates committed to providing up to $36,000 towards community initative(s). The top project was for cooperative, community-wide learning retreats for a multi-generational audience. Suggested themes for the retreats included environmentalism, experiential learning and family education. Other top ideas included the development of a centralized community website and the expansion of the PJ Library program. Stay tuned for progress.
